Gemar supports the community
In a press release, Gemar outlined how it is supporting its customers and community during these challenging times. “It has always been extremely important to us to have a positive impact on everyone whose lives are touched by Gemar. From distant rubber farmers, to our local community in Casalvieri and all of our partners, ambassadors and clients.Never has this been more vital than it is now, during the coronavirus emergency. Wonderful things happen when a community comes together, even in the most uncertain times. We have been truly inspired by the many ways we have seen people reaching out to take care of each other and we want Gemar to be a part of that.”
Virtual Flash Mobs
Gemar’s response was to launch the first ever virtual balloon flash mob. Gemar handed its social media platforms over to one of its Gemar Masters or Ambassadors, who hold a one hour live show. These shows bring people together to learn a new skill, enjoy watching a talented balloon professional, interact as a community and share moments of joy.
The aim was to do more than just lift the viewer’s spirits, vital as that is. On the opening night Gemar donated €1 for every person who logged on to view live, making a total donation of €4736. The money has been sent to the COVID19 Response Fund and will be used to support research, develop vaccines, tests and treatments. To ensure that patients get the care they need and that frontline workers have essential supplies.
“We have been blown away by the reaction to our flashmobs. The Gemar family has come together once again and we have received countless messages thanking us for our support, as well as many people using #IDidIt to show us that they have put everything they learnt into practice. It really has felt like a shared project, bringing people together,” Gemar stated in a press release.

In addition to supporting the worldwide efforts, Gemar also wanted to support its local community in Italy, by providing concrete and immediate help. “Gemar, in recent days, like many citizens and companies, has mobilized to support the health system and research by activating different forms of donation. In being close to our territory and to support the local hospitals we donated equipment such as ventilators, bronco-fiberscope and an endoscopic column that will be used in the Intensive Care Units,” Genesio Rocca (whose family have been making balloons for four generations) said.
“In this way we hope to make a genuine difference in the battle against coronavirus,” Gemar stated.
