1. What is the best retail advice you’ve received?

The best retail advice that we received was from our accountant, Mark Merki, at the beginning of last year. He said to raise our prices 20 percent and to cut expenses in every way that we could. It resulted in a 25 percent increase in our business and the award for Small Business of the Year!

2. What are your goals for 2014?

To increase the number of schools that come to us to be costumed. School and local theaters are a large part of our business and we would like to broaden our horizons in the state of Texas and beyond.

3. What are your biggest retail frustrations?

One of our biggest retail frustrations is false advertising from wholesalers. Too often we get a product that is in reality completely different than the picture. We handle it by removing unattractive packaging and making alterations to improve the quality and look of the item.

4. How do you stay passionate about what you do?

We stay passionate by employing creative and passionate people. By surrounding ourselves with interesting and imaginative people, it keeps everyone excited about the next project. One of the most fantastic aspects of this business is that every day is different and presents new opportunities.

5. If you had $10,000 to do whatever you wanted to your store, what renovations would you make?

We are constantly changing and adding to the look of our store to keep things interesting and new for us and our customers. If we had an extra $10,000 dollars, we would add additional washers and dryers for the constant cleaning of rental costumes.

Do you know of a party person we should highlight? Send your suggestions to and they could be featured in an upcoming issue!
